The Boomerang putting aid

                  The Boomerang in action

The Boomerang putting aid is designed so the golfer can get practice in home that will easily and most defiantly transfer to the course.  The Boomerang comes nicely packaged with: the Boomerang, the Carnoustie putting mat, directions and a cd-rom disc that shows their theory on how to putt.

I un-packaged the Boomerang and quickly read though the instructions.  The Boomerang is extremely easy to set up and is fairly idiot proof.  The Carnoustie putting mat comes folded up, but folds flat easily.

The Boomerang is easy enough to use, however, it is really hard to beat.  It made me feel like a horrible putter, but within no time I was starting to see my ball get caught in the cup more frequently.  I could see and feel a better, smoother stroke that was helping my distance control.  So far so good.

I put the disc into my computer and watched the video.  It teaches a technique that teaches you to: forward press, set putter flat on the ground, take it straight back and straight through.  This technique is used by 0% of the great putters on tour.  The USGA made it impossible to take the putter straight back and straight through with ruling that a putter shaft cannot go straight up from the putter head.   It has to have an angle of 10 degrees.  Taking is straight back would require your putter to have a shaft that goes straight up.

Conclusion:

I want to start off by saying, I think the disc should be thrown in the trash as soon as you open up the Boomerang.  With that said, I also think you should buy a Boomerang.  It is a cheap training aid that does exactly what is says it will do, reduce your three putts by making your distance control more accurate and constant.  So far it  is the best in home putting surface for under $200.  Couple that with the fact that it is a training aid and it is well worth the $39.95.
