Puku JME

Puku JME

Every once in awhile companies come out with stuff that is truely innovate.  Most golf products, especially putters, are just redesigns from the past.  Puku golf is one of those companies that have done something truley innovative.  With the Puku putters you can adjust the length in about 10 seconds.  That means that you can buy one putter, but you can have several different putters in a matter of seconds.  The Puku putter I am reviewing is the Puku JME.  The JME comes packaged with two grips, a video, instructions and the tool to adjust the putter.

The first thing I did is put the video in my dvd player to see what Puku had to say.  Normally when I put in a dvd from a company that comes packaged with a product I laugh.  However, the dvd from Puku is very high quality and gives great advice. The overall theme of the video is: experimenting.  With the Puku design you can experiment all you want.

All of the Puku putters are adjustable the same way.  You insert a titanium tool into they hole at the bottom of the grip and basically spread the metal apart.  This allows you to adjust the grip into any desired height.  This is a great feature if you are experimenting with your putting.  For example, if you want to try belly putting, sternum putting, or elbow anchor putting you can by making easy adjustments with one putter.  Doing that any other way would be so expensive that most people would never do so because you would need several different putters.  However, with the Puku putters you can purchase just one putter and adjust it to be virtually any other putter you could want.

My first impressions of the Puku JME were good.  I was impressed with the look of the JME when over the top.  It seems like such an unusual design until you hit a few putts with it.  So far the JME has performed great for me. I have hit a lot of putts with it both on course and off and the JME has yet to disappoint.  I have been using it as a belly putter, something that is not entirely new to me.

The grip used on the Puku putters is deffinetly a unique design.  Some will not give it a chance.  I however, understand why this grip is beneficial.  I personally like it a lot.  The head cover is also something that some people will talk bad about.  The fabric is similar to suede.  I personally think it is refreshing to see a company use a non AMF head cover.  With that said, I do wonder how the head cover will handle rain.

Puku

The feel of the JME is unique, just like everything that Puku has done.  It took me a few putts to get used to the feel, but it did grow on me.  The only way I can explain the feel of the JME is, solid.  The sound of the JME is a little odd, but if you are concentrating on making the putt then the sound should not matter so much.

Conclusion:
If interested in trying different styles of putting then the Puku is the only putter you should look at.  I personally quit using belly putters because when I put on different golf shoes it would change how the putter fit me.  With the Puku JME that is no longer a problem. I can change the length to fit my set up instead of changing my set up to fit the length.  The belly putter might be back in my bag because of the Puku JME.
